Okay, so many new cam models out there are constantly wondering which cam site is the best one to begin your camming career at, and there’s only one answer to that if you ask me. MyFreeCams (also known as MFC) is by far the best place to cam if you want to make major bank. It’s got everything a new model needs to really takeoff and become a star in the webcam modeling world.
One of the reasons I like MFC so much is that it seems to attract some of the biggest spenders in the camming world. I mean, you can find guys there who will tip you like it’s going out of style. Now, it may be difficult at first to get their attention when you’re new, but once you do, you’ll be very glad you started camming at this site.
When I first started as a cam girl there, I had a member tip me 10,000 tokens in just my first week. He found me on my second day and we really hit it off big, and then it was all token-rich goodness from there. He and I shared a lot of common interests, and he was really easy to talk to. When he took me private, we would have long chats about politics, culture, and other stuff. It was a really fun experience, and he was very generous with me.
He didn’t only tip me and take me private, he also purchased gift items off my Amazon wishlist. That’s the thing, when you’re a cam girl, you need to realize that a lot of the loot you’ll make will come in the form of wishlist gifts (which is great because you don’t have to pay taxes on gifts, I’m pretty sure, but I’m not a tax expert). At MFC, you’re more likely to run into members who are willing to spend this kind of money on you, and that’s probably the best part about the site.
Being a cam girl at MyFreeCams can be challenging if you don’t “pop” early on by attracting tippers quickly, so it’s not all easy street there. What I usually recommend to new cam models is to just talk a lot and be as friendly and open as you can be. Then, you should see more and more viewers showing up to watch your cam and you’ll steadily create regulars who will tip you. Before you know it, you’ll be making great money and you’ll be glad you chose the site!
I was a huge fan of Bob Ross when I was a kid, and he basically inspired me to become a cam girl, believe it or not. Those beautiful paintings he would produce caused me to think about the art that I could put out in the world, and camming seemed the best outlet. Weird, but true.
If I had to select one reason that I decided to become a cam girl, it would have to be independence. I was living with my boyfriend (who was a douche, and he was sleeping with my best friend) and was completely dependent on him financially. That feeling of being totally helpless and not being able to take care of myself was humiliating and dignity-draining.
I had considered working as a waitress for a while, but when I compared it to being a cam girl, it just didn’t compare at all. I could make way more money as a cam model, and I could do it entirely from home. Waiting tables is not something that seemed attractive to me, especially since I’m very comfortable with my sexuality and have no problem with expressing it online in front of strangers.
I think my personality is extremely compatible with being a webcam girl, so it’s no surprise that I chose camming as a way to achieve my independence from my ex boyfriend. Like I said, sex is something I’m very comfortable with, and I’m an exhibitionist, so it just makes total sense for me.
If you’re like me, then you’d probably do quite well as a cam model too, but there are some things you need to be aware about before you start camming. First thing is, you need to understand that explicit images and videos of you WILL make it out there onto the internet and you will need to be okay with that. If you expect to do something high-profile in the future career-wise, you may need to think carefully about this.
Also, you need to know that being a cam girl is not about just sitting on your butt all day in front of your webcam. It involves a lot of off-camera activity too, such as social media marketing, talking with regulars via text and on Skype, and doing general promotion for your brand. A lot of this can be outsourced, but you will have to talk a lot with regulars when you’re off cam. Actually, that is probably how I spend most of my work time — just talking to regulars.
Don’t get me wrong, camgirling is so much better than waitressing or doing just about anything else I can think of. But just keep all this in mind so your expectations are reasonable.
I can’t tell you how many times girls have asked me whether I think it’s possible to make a lot of money as a non-nude cam model. I get this question a few times every week, it seems, so I’m going to give you my opinion on this in a kind of brutally honest way right here. Some of you may not like what I have to say about it, but some others might realize that there’s an opportunity here for those who are willing to go for it.
First of all, non-nude camming is something that most models will not be able to be successful at simply due to the reason that most models are not gorgeous enough. If you’re not a perfect 10, it’s really freaking difficult to be successful at non-nude modeling on cam. The reason for this is that looks are what attract viewers, and if you’re not flashing your boobs or twerking your booty, then you really need to have a pretty face to reel in the members.
Yes, it is possible to attract viewers with your smarts, or your jokes, or just your charm, but it’s way harder. On cam sites, viewers tend to look at the thumbnails or video previews for a room before they dive in, so if there’s not something hot to get their attention, they’ll generally move on to the next room. This doesn’t mean it’s impossible, don’t get me wrong, but it will be harder.
Secondly, if you’re a non-nude cam girl, you need to understand that you need to talk a lot. The only reason for members to hangout with non-nude models is for the chatting and bullshitting. If you just sit silently, you’re not going to do well at all. Eventually, members will want to take you private just to talk with you, but you’ve got to show them that you’re worth talking to one-on-one first by being interesting in your public chat.
Finally, you need to know which cam sites to broadcast on before you go about being a cam girl who keeps her clothes on. For example, if you were to start camming on a site like Cams.com or IFriends, you’d probably fail badly because the members there just don’t seem to be into non-nude. If you cam at MFC, you’ll have a lot more success because the members there tend to love chatting and being social, not just getting off.
So yeah, non-nude camming success is not impossible, but it helps to be super hot, interesting, and talky.
I’ve always wanted to write about being a cam girl, because it’s been at the basis of my entire existence for several years now. I think I can offer a lot of good advice to new models, so since I don’t really have anything better to do in my spare time, I’m going to throw all of my best thoughts on the subject down onto this blog.
I apologize in advance for not being politically correct, it’s just that I can’t keep up with that crap. But the advice will be good, I can promise you that.
